Event Director – B2B Exhibitions

Salary: £70,000 basic
OTE: Approximately £90,000–£95,000 in year one
Location: London – hybrid working, three days per week in the office

We are recruiting an experienced Event Director to take commercial ownership of an established B2B exhibition and lead the next stage of its growth.

This is a senior, hands-on position for someone who understands the exhibitions industry, enjoys leading from the front and knows how to turn strong commercial ideas into measurable results.

The role

You will take responsibility for the commercial performance and continued development of the event, leading the sales team while maintaining an active presence in the market yourself.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, supporting and developing a high-performing event sales team
  • Creating and delivering the commercial strategy for the event
  • Growing revenue across exhibition space, sponsorship and other commercial opportunities
  • Developing relationships with existing clients while identifying and converting new business
  • Increasing exhibitor numbers, improving show yield and broadening the event’s customer base
  • Setting clear individual and team targets and maintaining strong visibility of performance
  • Managing sales plans, forecasts and budgets effectively
  • Working collaboratively with marketing, content and operations teams
  • Remaining actively involved in key accounts, negotiations and major commercial conversations
  • Acting as a visible ambassador for the event within its professional community

About you

You will already have experience in a senior commercial role within B2B exhibitions or trade shows and a strong record of delivering revenue growth.

You are likely to bring:

  • Proven experience of leading and developing exhibition sales teams
  • A strong personal sales record and the credibility to lead by example
  • Commercial confidence, sound judgement and a clear understanding of event economics
  • Experience of growing exhibition, sponsorship and partnership revenue
  • The ability to build lasting relationships with senior clients and industry stakeholders
  • A positive, people-focused leadership style
  • Strong forecasting, planning, negotiation and communication skills
  • The energy and resilience to perform in a fast-moving, target-driven environment
