The Role…

At Soho House the Event Director is responsible for the strategy, delivery & production of Soho House Primary Events in the UK, Europe and Asia – including but not limited to Soho House Festival, Soho Summit, Soho Food Festival, plus pop ups at music festivals, art fairs and more.

This role will work closely with counterparts in the North America to ensure consistent experiences for Soho House members in all regions, whilst ensuring they are culturally relevant to the Regions. At times, this role may support on projects in these other regions as and when required by the business. This role will also manage a small team of event producers & co-ordinators alongside external freelancers/agencies.

This role is a 12 Month Maternity Cover contract

Main Duties…

  • Event Strategy & Delivery – responsible for setting the event strategy and overseeing the production & delivery of multiple events happening concurrently across UK, EU & Asia including planning, logistics & development of multiple event formats (pop ups, launches, dinners, summits, parties) ensuring each event is Health & Safety compliant and meets Soho House’s style, food & beverage standards.
  • Budget Management – bringing together knowledge of event production, this role is responsible for overseeing the budgets of all events we produce & the decisions that get made to ensure costs are managed efficiently without compromises being made to the overall member experience.
  • Project Team Management – lead and manage a cross functional project team, comprising of a mixture of in House (Member events team) & freelance producers where required, talent teams, comms, partnerships, operations (food, beverage, service, staffing), finance, creative & content, AV/tech, legal and membership as well as all external vendors and partners, venues, licensing, food & beverage, talent liaison, AV, décor/creative production and entertainment.
  • Event Production – a seasoned event producer, this role will be required to produce events & experiences as and when required, as well as recruit and onboard agencies to help with the delivery of events where required.
  • Diversity & Inclusion – responsible for delivering progress year on year on the D&I pledge in relation to partnerships and event suppliers, managing a team and personal development.
  • Current Trends – stay on top of the most relevant trends externally in the world of event curation, technologies to support event logistics/guest list/ticketing but also internally within the world of Soho House, understanding our standards in food, drink, service & style.
  • ROI / Post-event Management – manage effective post-event evaluation including member feedback, successes and under performance to manage stakeholder communications and deliver continuous improvements.
  • Partnerships – working directly with the Events & Partnerships team to:
    • Deliver sponsorship / ticketing revenues through strategic / promotional / tactical partnerships to offset event costs.
    • Partner with cultural organisations and brands on co-created, co-funded events.
    • Create event proposals and attend partner meetings where applicable.

Requirements/ Qualifications:

  • Event Production – 10+ years’ experience in large scale event production, particularly festival production and producing on a green site.
  • Budget Management – solid understanding of budget creation, cost control and expense reporting.
  • Communication – excellent verbal & written communication skills is a must, with the ability to produce event decks & reports essential.
  • Project/Programme Management – experienced in managing multiple projects and people simultaneously.
  • Organisation & Attention to Detail – the role requires a fast learner with strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, who is deadline driven.
  • Health & Safety – a good understanding of Health & Safety requirements, permitting and license laws to produce events is essential.
  • Team Management – experience of successfully managing a cross functional project team is essential.
  • Hospitality/F&B experience – experience working with chefs, caterers, drinks suppliers, FOH staff is a bonus.
  • Global experience – experience producing events in multiple regions (UK, Europe, Asia) is a bonus.
  • Network – must have an excellent black book of talent, venues, producers, agencies and supplier contacts.
