Job Overview
Tewinbury Farm Hotel is an independent, family-run hospitality business set in the Hertfordshire countryside — and events are at the very heart of what we do. From intimate wedding breakfasts and milestone birthday celebrations to corporate away days and private dining occasions, every event that takes place here matters deeply to the people attending it.
We are looking for an Events Manager who understands that and brings genuine passion, warmth, and professionalism to making each one exceptional.
This is a hands-on, guest-facing, front-of-house Events Manager role focused on the day-to-day management and delivery of events at Tewinbury Farm Hotel. You will be the face of each event — the person clients and guests turn to on the day, the calm and capable presence that makes everything feel effortless, and the skilled coordinator who ensures every detail agreed in planning actually happens on the ground.
Key Responsibilities
Event Day Management & Guest Experience
- Act as the lead point of contact for clients and guests on the day of their event, from first arrival through to final farewell
- Oversee the running of each event in real time — managing timings, coordinating teams, anticipating needs, and responding to any changes with calm confidence
- Welcome clients and guests with warmth and professionalism, ensuring their first impression of the day sets exactly the right tone
- Ensure the event is delivered precisely to the agreed specification, communicating any changes clearly and swiftly to all relevant teams
- Handle guest requests, last-minute changes, and any issues that arise during the event with composure, creativity, and genuine care
- Be the calm, reassuring presence that clients need on what is often one of the most important days of their lives or year
Pre-Event Coordination & Planning
- Manage the operational handover from the events sales, ensuring you have a thorough understanding of every detail of the event before the day
- Conduct pre-event site walks and briefings with all relevant departments - so every team member knows exactly what is needed and when
- Deliver on prepared detailed event running orders, function sheets, and team briefing documents that leave nothing to chance
- Carry out pre-event room inspections to ensure spaces are set, dressed, and presented to the required standard before any guest arrives

Team Coordination & Communication
- Brief and direct the team on the day, ensuring every team member understands their role and responsibilities throughout the event
- Maintain clear and proactive communication between front-of-house, kitchen, bar, and wider hotel teams throughout each event
- Work closely with the Events Head Chef to coordinate food timings, course changes, and any dietary or allergen requirements during service
- Support and mentor junior team members during events, leading by example and building a confident, guest-focused team culture
Operational Standards & Presentation
- Ensure all event spaces are set up, presented, and maintained to an impeccable standard throughout every occasion
- Oversee the timely and efficient turnaround of spaces between different elements of an event or between back-to-back bookings
- Maintain full compliance with health and safety, food hygiene, fire safety, and licensing requirements throughout all events
- Ensure all allergen information is communicated accurately between kitchen, service teams, and guests
- Conduct a thorough debrief and venue check at the close of each event, noting anything that requires follow-up
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Proven experience managing events in a hotel, wedding venue, or comparable hospitality environment — you know what good event management looks and feels like
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build rapport and trust with clients and guests in what are often high-stakes moments
- Exceptional organisational ability — you hold a lot of detail in your head, nothing falls through the cracks, and you have a system for everything
- A calm, composed, and solutions-focused approach when things do not go to plan — and the experience to know that something always will
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct and inspire a team confidently on the day
- Clear, professional, and proactive communication across all teams and with clients
- A genuine passion for hospitality and for creating experiences that people remember
- Full flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays in line with the events calendar
