About AnimeGirlsOnline

AnimeGirlsOnline (AGO) is a UK based community led organisation creating safe, empowering and inclusive spaces for women and girl-identifiers in nerd culture. Founded in October 2023, AGO was created in response to the lack of representation, respect and inclusion women can experience in fandom spaces traditionally viewed as “just for boys.” We centre women’s voices and experiences across anime, gaming, K-pop, cosplay and wider fan culture. In a short period of time, AGO has grown into a thriving community of 500+ members, hosted sold out events and meetups, and built partnerships with organisations including MCM Comic Con and All The Anime. Our mission is to make nerd spaces more inclusive, supportive and fun, while redefining what it means to belong in nerd culture.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Community & Events Manager to oversee AGO’s Community and Events function, ensuring our community experience and events programme work together to create meaningful, engaging and valuable experiences for our members. This is a leadership role responsible for managing both the Community Lead and Events Lead, providing direction, supporting their development and ensuring both areas work effectively together.

The Events Lead is responsible for all things events, including developing concepts, planning and organising events, coordinating event promotion with the Social Team, managing event-specific partnerships and overseeing event delivery.

The Community Lead is responsible for the wider community experience, including memberships, member benefits, community activations, community organisation and the processes that shape how AGO operates and engages with its members.

The Community & Events Manager sits above both functions, ensuring that our community strategy and events programme are connected. You’ll help set priorities, oversee delivery, support both leads and identify opportunities for AGO to grow its community, events and partnerships. You’ll also oversee the organisation and coordination of event volunteers, ensuring the wider team is well briefed, supported and able to deliver successful events and activations. The role will involve working closely with AGO’s wider leadership team, including Social and Creative, as well as external brands, partners, venues and organisations.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Oversee AGO’s Community and Events function and provide strategic direction across both areas.
  • Manage and support the Community Lead and Events Lead, providing guidance, setting priorities and overseeing their work.
  • Ensure the Community Lead and Events Lead work closely together and that their plans are aligned.
  • Establish clear processes, responsibilities and ways of working across the Community and Events team.
  • Organise and coordinate the wider team of event volunteers.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively and ensure team members and volunteers are properly briefed and supported.
  • Monitor progress across community and event activity and ensure key deadlines and deliverables are met.
  • Work closely with the wider AGO leadership team to support the organisation’s overall goals.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in community management, event planning, project management, volunteer coordination or a similar role.
  • Experience managing, coordinating or leading people, volunteers or projects.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with team members, volunteers, community members and external partners.
  • Experience creating or managing communities, memberships, events or activations.
  • A genuine understanding of what makes a community feel welcoming, engaging and valuable to its members.
  • The ability to create and maintain safe, inclusive and supportive spaces.
  • A proactive and reliable approach, with the confidence to take ownership and make decisions.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small team.
  • Experience working with brands, partnerships or external organisations is beneficial.
  • Experience within anime, gaming, K-pop, cosplay, fandom communities or grassroots organisations is highly beneficial.
  • Confidence working at events across the UK, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Availability & Working Style

This is a volunteer leadership role with a primarily remote/hybrid working style. Most planning, communication, team management and coordination can be completed online. However, AGO’s community activities and events frequently take place during evenings and weekends, so this is not a traditional 9–5 role. Flexibility and a genuine commitment to the community are important.

The successful candidate will be expected to attend AGO events in person, as well as occasional in person team meetings, planning sessions, activations and other community activities where required. We understand that volunteers have other commitments, but we’re looking for someone who can communicate their availability clearly, manage their responsibilities effectively and commit consistently to the role.

Why Join AGO?

This is an opportunity to take a genuine leadership role within a growing community organisation and help shape how one of the UK’s emerging women-led nerd culture communities operates and grows. You’ll gain hands-on experience across community management, events, partnerships, volunteer leadership and organisational development, while working alongside a passionate team to create spaces where women can feel seen, supported and part of something bigger. If you’re passionate about community, events and creating better spaces for women in nerd culture, we’d love to hear from you.
