TEMBO is a specialist agency and consultancy serving the global events, exhibitions, media, and information industries.
Our Marketing Agency works as an extension of our clients’ teams, delivering strategic, hands-on marketing support across events, exhibitions, conferences, and live experiences.
We work with B2B and B2C audiences, from international exhibitions and conferences to consumer events, and we’re growing our team with an experienced Event Marketing Manager who understands how to turn an event proposition into an audience.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Event Marketing Manager to join our Agency team and own marketing campaigns across a portfolio of client events.
You’ll work across both B2B and B2C events, developing and delivering campaigns designed to build audiences, drive registrations, sell tickets, and ultimately deliver against commercial event targets.
Paid attendance experience is particularly important to us.
We’re looking for someone with experience selling tickets — accountable for driving paying audiences to events — who understands the strategy, channels, creative, data, and continual optimisation required to convert interest into attendance.
Experience within festivals, sport, outdoor events, consumer exhibitions, cultural events or live experiences would be particularly interesting to us.
This is not purely a strategy role. You’ll be expected to think, plan and advise and also to get into the detail and make things happen. You’ll also lead and develop team members, bringing together different skills and levels of experience to deliver the best possible results for our clients.
Event Marketing Strategy & Campaign Management
- Develop and deliver integrated marketing strategies for client events across B2B and B2C audiences.
- Translate event objectives into clear audience, attendance, ticket and revenue targets.
- Build campaign plans across the full event marketing cycle, from launch and early-bird activity through to the final attendance push.
- Identify audience segments, propositions, messaging and channels that will drive response.
- Manage multiple event campaigns and deadlines simultaneously.
- Continually assess campaign performance and adapt activity according to what the data is telling us.
Audience Acquisition & Paid Attendance
- Take responsibility for campaigns designed to drive registrations, ticket sales and attendance.
- Understand and manage the customer journey from awareness through consideration, purchase or registration and attendance.
- Use audience data, behavioural insight and campaign performance to improve conversion.
- Understand ticket-sales curves and how campaign activity needs to change as an event approaches.
- Develop strategies around pricing, offers, promotions, partnerships and urgency where appropriate.
- Identify new audiences and acquisition opportunities rather than relying solely on historic databases.
Multi-Channel Marketing
Plan and deliver campaigns across channels including:
- Email and CRM
- Managing paid digital and PPC with external or internal specialists
- Organic social
- Content marketing
- Data management
- Partnerships and contra activity
- Influencers and communities where relevant
- PR and media partnerships
- Website management
Team Management & Development
- Lead and manage team members working across your client accounts and campaigns.
- Translate strategy into clear, actionable briefs, ensuring everyone understands what they are delivering, why it matters and what good looks like.
- Allocate work effectively across people with different skill sets, strengths and levels of experience.
- Set clear expectations, priorities, deadlines and measures of success.
- Monitor individual and team performance throughout campaigns, identifying where additional direction or support is needed.
- Quality-control the team’s output, ensuring work is accurate, commercially focused, on-brand and of the standard expected by both TEMBO and our clients.
- Give clear, constructive feedback that improves both immediate output and the individual's capability.
- Coach and develop team members, helping them build their skills, confidence and understanding of event marketing.
- Recognise individual strengths and know how to combine different skills and experience to get the strongest result from the team.
- Create accountability while giving people the space and support to own their work.
- Work collaboratively with specialists across TEMBO and external partners, bringing the right expertise together around each campaign.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Test messaging, creative, audiences, channels and offers to improve performance.
- Produce clear, useful client reporting focused on outcomes and next actions.
Client Management
- Build strong relationships with client marketing teams and senior stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

We’re particularly interested in people who can demonstrate:
- Proven experience marketing paid-attendance events and delivering against ticket sales or attendance targets.
- Experience owning event marketing campaigns from strategy through to delivery.
- A strong understanding of audience acquisition and conversion.
- Experience working across multiple marketing channels.
- Strong digital marketing knowledge, including paid media, CRM/email, social and web.
- Experience managing and developing marketing team members.
- Ability to write strong briefs, delegate effectively, and manage delivery through others.
- Strong quality control and attention to detail, with the confidence to challenge work that isn't good enough.
- Experience managing people with different skill sets and levels of experience and getting the best from each of them.
- The ability to interrogate campaign data and turn it into action.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding that marketing performance ultimately needs to translate into attendance and revenue.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills.
- Confidence managing clients and senior stakeholders.
- The ability to manage multiple campaigns, priorities and deadlines without losing sight of the detail.

Experience within festivals, sport, outdoor events, consumer exhibitions, cultural events, attractions, entertainment or live experiences would be a real advantage.
Experience across both B2C and B2B events would be ideal, but we’re equally interested in strong consumer event marketers who can demonstrate how their experience would translate into a B2B environment.
The Person
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Commercial. You naturally think about what the campaign is there to achieve, not simply what activity needs to be delivered.
- Audience obsessed. You want to understand whom we are trying to reach, what will make them care and what will make them act.
- Data-led. You use numbers to make better marketing decisions rather than treating reporting as an end-of-campaign exercise.
- A strong people manager. You set clear expectations, give useful feedback and know how to get the best from people with different strengths, skills and levels of experience.
- Hands-on. You’re comfortable moving between strategy, campaign planning, client conversations, managing your team and delivery.
- Proactive. You spot problems and opportunities early and act on them.
- Curious. You’re interested in new channels, technology, AI and changing audience behaviour.
- Calm under pressure. Events have immovable deadlines. You know how to prioritise and keep moving when things get busy.
- And importantly, you enjoy events. You understand the unique mix of creativity, commercial pressure, deadlines, and adrenaline that makes this industry what it is.
What Success Looks Like
Within this role, success means:
- Client events meeting or exceeding their audience and attendance objectives.
- Strong ticket sales and registration performance against agreed targets.
- Campaigns that are continually optimised, not simply delivered to plan.
- Clients who see TEMBO as an essential extension of their team.
- A well-briefed, accountable team producing consistently high-quality work.
- Team members developing their skills and taking increasing ownership of delivery.
- Clear, commercially useful reporting and recommendations.
- New ideas and consumer marketing thinking being brought into our wider Agency team.
- Strong collaboration across TEMBO’s marketing, digital, content and consultancy specialists.
Why TEMBO?
- You’ll work across a varied portfolio of events rather than spending your year marketing the same product.
- You’ll have the opportunity to work across B2B and consumer audiences, different sectors, markets, and event models, alongside specialists across marketing, digital, content, and consultancy.
- We’re ambitious about where we’re taking the Agency and how event marketing needs to evolve.
- We’re particularly interested in better use of data, digital, technology and AI — alongside the fundamental marketing skill of understanding an audience and giving them a compelling reason to attend.
