Brunel Cyber Security Society is hiring an Events Officer for the new cohort, starting September 2026.
About us
Brunel Cyber Security Society at Brunel University London is a student-led organisation focused on promoting cybersecurity awareness, practical skills and professional growth for students. We offer hands-on learning through workshops, Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions, guest lectures from industry experts, networking events and collaborative projects. We support both newcomers and experienced learners, creating an inclusive community for everyone interested in information security. Members gain practical cybersecurity experience, explore career pathways, and stay up to date with current trends, threats and technologies in the field.
The role
The Events Officer is a full-time, on-site committee role based in Greater London, responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering society events throughout the academic year. Day to day, this means organising logistics for workshops, CTF competitions, talks and networking sessions, booking venues and coordinating schedules with speakers and partners, and managing event timelines to ensure smooth execution. You'll promote events through the right channels, handle attendee communications, and provide on-the-day support such as registration and audience coordination. You'll work closely with the committee to align events with the society's goals, manage basic event budgets, and use feedback to improve future activities.

What we're looking for
- Strong event planning and management skills, able to design, organise and deliver a varied programme of activities.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, comfortable engaging with members, speakers and partners professionally and inclusively.
- Basic budgeting skills to support cost-effective, responsible use of society resources.
- Good organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple events or tasks at once.
- Experience in student societies, events or community organising is a plus, particularly within tech or cybersecurity.
- Comfortable working on-site in a university environment with a diverse range of students and staff.
- Familiarity with common productivity and event promotion tools (email, social media, online registration platforms) is an advantage.
