EVENT PRODUCER (HR)
Own an event series. Meet the most senior HR Directors in the country. Make it yours.
WHO WE ARE
Workgroup runs events for the most senior executives in the country: General Counsel, Chief Financial Officers, Chief People Officers, Chief Marketing Officers. We hate the old way of doing events: endless one-way presentations and thinly-veiled sales pitches. So we don't do that.
We're a small, ambitious team, and every event genuinely belongs to the person running it. If that's you, you'll be trusted with real ownership fast, but backed properly while you learn the ropes.
THE ROLE
We’re currently recruiting for an Event Producer (EP) to work in our Workgroup HR team making events for Chief People Officers and HR Directors.
As an Event Producer (EP), you'll take ownership of your own event series within one of our Branches (e.g. CFO, Legal, HR, CMO). Specifically, you'll be:
- Winning speakers - researching and personally persuading 15–18 of the most senior people in the country to join your agenda as “workgroupers.”
- Designing the agenda - shaping the day's panels and workgroups. There's a template; making it brilliant is on you.
- Selling sponsorship - bringing in 3–6 sponsors per event, understanding what they need, and contracting them (with your Branch Director's support).
- Filling the room - recruiting 50–60 attendees of the right seniority, including working sponsors' hitlists.
- Marketing your event - keeping your audience warm via LinkedIn, email, and sharp post-event content.
- Owning the numbers - once you've run your first event, finding efficiencies and earning commission on profit.
- Delivering on the day - hosting, running your colleagues, and owning every venue conversation.
HOW YOU'LL BE SET UP TO SUCCEED
You’ll report to your Branch Director (BD), who sits across all of the events in your Branch (HR). During probation, you’ll work closely together as you learn how we make our amazing events so… well… amazing! At the start, they’ll guide you through each process, sign off any work that goes externally, and support you in landing huge speakers, writing stunning agendas, and delivering the best events in our industry.
However, once you’ve perfected the tools of our trade, understood the fundamentals of production, and built a track record of fantastic events, you’ll be given the autonomy to make your events your own. We’re looking for an ambitious perfectionist who, once they’ve learned our way, will take our winning formula and then take full ownership.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
HOW YOU'LL BE JUDGED
- Speakers — seniority (the most senior in the country for your Branch), quantity (15–18), recognisable brands, and a visibly diverse agenda.
- Attendees — seniority and quantity (50–60) while hitting the hitlists your sponsors give you.
- Revenue — hitting the BUDGET / TARGET / STRETCH thresholds set for your event, with your BD's support on sponsorship.
WHAT YOU'LL GET
- Salary - £28,000 base depending on experience, reviewed yearly.
- Commission - 10% of your events' profit — realistically £0–£12k+ in year one — plus our wider bonus scheme.
- Flexibility - 35 hours a week, entirely flexible. We're outputs-focused: we care what you achieve, not how or where you get there.
- Working away - once established, work from abroad for up to 3 months a year (within a reasonable time difference).
- Time off - 28 days' annual leave (including bank holidays), plus extra days for your birthday, Christmas week and more.
- Progression - based on your performance, not how long you've been here. Run great events and you'll move up fast.
WHERE YOU'LL BE BASED
This role is remote-first day to day, but you'll need to be based within around an hour's travel of Manchester or Leeds as the events you’re running will be in these cities. You will also need to travel to some of your colleagues’ events across the UK, and maybe even abroad!
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
No events experience required - we'll train you from scratch as we’ve thrown the traditional events manual out of the window. What matters far more is charisma, sharp writing, relentless organisation, resilience, and ambition. Full detail is in the person specification below (and yes, the bonus points scheme is alive and well!)

Send your CV to joinus@workgroup-events.com, telling us how many bonus points you scored against the person spec. Include any work you're proud of, and (most importantly) speak to us like a human.
