The Role
Nottingham Contemporary and Broadway Cinema are two of Nottingham's leading cultural venues, each offering distinctive spaces for hire alongside a strong programme of screenings, exhibitions, events and activities. We are looking for a freelance Event Sales Consultant to generate new commercial venue-hire income across both venues.
Both venues have grown their hire income in recent years, largely through word-of-mouth and repeat bookings. With our teams busy focusing on delivery of high quality events, we have created this shared role to sell our spaces proactively for the first time reaching new clients who might otherwise overlook two of the city's most distinctive event spaces.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

As the primary driver of new business, you will:
- Identify opportunities across the corporate, public and creative sectors
- Respond to enquiries with tailored proposals
- Convert leads into confirmed bookings
Once a booking is confirmed, our internal teams take over delivery, leaving you to continue engaging with prospective clients. You will build lasting client relationships, help shape compelling hire packages, and recommend whichever venue best suits each client's needs.
This is a externally facing role working across two organisations in a shared capacity, so it calls for a collaborative, transparent and commercial approach.
The Candidate
We are looking for someone with a demonstrable track record of generating new business and meeting sales targets in event sales or business development. You will be a confident self-starter, comfortable with proactive outreach and able to manage a pipeline of prospective clients independently with minimal supervision.
