Location: Longleat Safari Park, Warminster BA12 7NW
Dates: 7th November 2026 - 10th January 2027
Shifts: All shifts are subject to a minimum of six hours (specific times to be confirmed)
Rate of pay: The hourly rate is subject to the upcoming Living Wage announcement and will be confirmed and communicated as soon as it is released. For reference, last year's rate was £15.47 per hour (£13.80 + £1.67 holiday pay) - this year's rate of pay will be higher.
NB: There will be a mandatory paid training date that all successful applicants will need to attend in order to secure a space in this team. This event operates 7 days a week at its peak. We’re asking successful applicants for a commitment across the duration of the event, however, please note the team increases in size from the start of December. Shift options will be discussed with successful applicants. Shortlisted applicants will be asked to provide their availability.
Please note: Due to the site's rural location, it is not easily accessible by public transport.

This winter, Longleat’s spectacular Festival of Light is back, transforming the Estate into a magical world of myths, legends and larger-than-life lanterns. This year’s Legendary Worlds theme will take visitors on an unforgettable 2.5km journey through more than 1000 illuminated creations, from the lost city of Atlantis and a life-sized whale to dragons, giants, phoenixes, gods and legendary heroes.

Alongside the incredible lantern trail, visitors can enjoy festive favourites including the Enchanted Christmas Tree Show, seasonal market huts, the Winter Safari and the ever-popular Santa Train. It’s one of the UK’s most magical Christmas experiences, bringing together spectacular lights, family entertainment and the unique setting of Longleat for a truly memorable festive event.
As guests wander the 2.5 km lantern trail, enjoy the House light show, and soak up festive extras like the Santa Train and Enchanted Christmas Tree, it’s our job to make sure their experience is unforgettable.
By joining the Ethical Staffing team, you’ll be right at the heart of this spectacle – welcoming families, guiding crowds, answering questions, and helping every visitor leave with magical memories.
Roles and Responsibilities
As an Event Steward, you will be the friendly, visible face of the Festival Of Light - helping guests make lasting memories and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
Typical duties may include:
- Guest welcome & way-finding – greeting visitors with warmth, offering directions, and setting a positive first impression.
- Customer service – answering questions about the event, facilities, and attractions with confidence, clarity and a friendly attitude.
- Crowd management & safety – supporting the safe movement of guests along lantern routes, at entrances and exits, and within busy viewing areas.
- Queue management – keeping queues moving efficiently at attractions, refreshment points, or transport (e.g. the Santa Train).
- Problem–solving – identifying and reporting issues early, assisting visitors who need extra support, and staying calm and solution-focused in a busy environment.
- Teamwork – working closely with Supervisors and fellow stewards to deliver a consistent, professional, and high-quality visitor experience.
- Visitor experience – ensuring every guest leaves with a smile, whether by helping a family capture a photo, assisting with accessibility needs, or simply creating a welcoming atmosphere, your friendly presence will help make their evening special.

Requirements
Skills and Experience:
- Previous stewarding or similar experience is desirable
- You must have brilliant customer service skills
- You must be able to be prepared to work in all different weather conditions
- Enthusiastic, polite, approachable, and confident communicator
- A loud, clear voice is helpful for managing groups or queues
Candidate requirements:
- You must be a UK resident or have the right to work in the UK
- You must be able to provide at least two references from previous employers
- Due to the site’s rural location, having access to your own vehicle would be highly recommended
