MEI Overview

MEI is a central London based, 19-year-old company specializing in the Business of Sport sector. Originally built around a single client base, MEI has expanded its offer across the major sports event market.

MEI supports three communities:

  • Commercial companies seeking to enter the sports market, whom MEI connects with Rights Holders to help them win contracts.
  • Sports Property owners who task MEI with finding hosts for their sports properties, enhancing their profile via MEI owned assets and connecting them to MEI Members from commercial companies.
  • Destinations (countries, cities, and venues) seeking to host sports events, leveraging MEI relationships and enhancing their market profile via MEI routine communication assets.

Suitability for the Role

The role has two distinct and complementary aspects:

Event Delivery

This role is suitable for someone with no less than 3+ years’ experience of working on events. These can range from roles within organizations that run their own routine briefings or networking events, through to conference formats or Awards Dinners.

  • Awareness of scheduling and ensuring that all key activities are delivered in an integrated way is essential. This spans catering, AV, registration, and speaker engagement.
  • Much of this is delivered by other roles in MEI acting in support, for example, colleagues recruiting Rights Holders to speak.
  • A close working relationship with the Operations lead, who oversees a rolling 12-month master plan, is also key.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Event Promotion

Supporting the promotion of these events. Website updates and the design of supporting LinkedIn and flier content will form part of the role, as will simple newsletters and periodic email campaigns.

  • MEI has also started to produce an Annual Journal: this role will capture content from clients and work with an external agency, which will oversee production ready for June 2027.

Operational Delivery

MEI currently runs 2 annual Summits as major milestones to bring our community together, one in Switzerland and one in the UK. They are complex, multi-component events requiring significant planning, detailed coordination, and liaison ahead of delivery.

Every 6 to 8 weeks, MEI also runs informal networking and briefing events on different themes. Smaller and more straightforward in nature, they are nonetheless important for market profile and connectivity.
