Pavilions of Harrogate

An ideal venue for events that call for a more intimate atmosphere. This award-winning space, featuring 14 elegant rooms, hosting over 300 events a year which accommodates a wide variety of smaller gatherings while also hosting larger sophisticated awards dinners, weddings, and conferences.

All profits raised from events at the Pavilions of Harrogate raises funds for the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, a registered charity proudly at the heart of farming, food, and the countryside; now and forever.

Purpose of the Role

To work as part of the Event operations team in Pavilions of Harrogate to ensure the continued success of the organisation. Working closely with the Senior Event Manager and Event Managers, leading and inspiring the Events Team to deliver safe and successful events.

You will be expected to develop a strong understanding of all operational aspects of meetings and events, confidently lead shifts and manage events, clients, and guests in every aspect of running events from:

  • Preparing the venue - Cleaning, setting, and breaking down
  • Ensuring the event runs smoothly and safely
  • Assisting in all aspects of event set-up and close down

This is a physically demanding and fast-paced role which is roughly 90% hands on out in the venue and only 10% in the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the venue is prepared for arrival according to the client's specification, setting out furniture, installing electrical cables and AV equipment, etc. This is a hands-on role.
  • Contribute to the overall organisational goals.
  • To be an integral part of the events team.
  • Display the P.R.O.U.D values of the Society.
  • Support the Event Team in the successful delivery of events.
  • Ensure Functions and Events are managed correctly
  • Manage all contractors, sub-contractors, and casual workers as required by events.
  • Ensure the venue is excellently presented assisting with the cleaning of the venue, including floors, kitchens, toilets, and any other areas so they meet the company standards for cleanliness.
  • Ensure clients' expectations are met and where possible exceeded.
  • Multitasking - Confident in handling multiple operational aspects simultaneously
  • Key Holder
  • Ensure a positive customer experience by overseeing all aspects of their experience.
  • Support the sales team with show rounds and proposals by providing operational knowledge and guidance.
  • Work as part of the events team to ensure efficiency and control costs to deliver expected margins.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational performance and visitor experience.
  • Use of own initiative with willingness to go above and beyond in supporting the wider team
  • Ensure the completion of stock takes and equipment auditing as required.
  • Ensure the service of alcohol complies with our Premises License and is delivered to the expected standard.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience of events operational delivery and management.

  • Accredited SIA Door Supervisor (training will be provided)
  • First Aider (training will be provided)
  • Fire Warden (training will be provided)
