About the Role
We need an experienced, hands-on Events Manager to own the delivery of three flagship business events between now and March/April 2027.
This isn't a logistics-only role. You'll define and run the full plan for each event, delegate acquisition targets, sponsorship targets, and all the operational delivery that makes an event work on the day. Reporting directly to our agency co-founders and working closely with the Event Director on programme evaluation.
You won't be doing the sponsorship sales calls or writing the marketing copy yourself, our team handles that, but you'll set the targets, build the plan they work to, track progress against it, and be the person who makes sure it all comes together.
What You'll Own
- The full event plan for each of the three events. Marketing and delegate acquisition, sponsorship targets, venue, logistics, on-the-day delivery, from the agency co-founder's brief through to execution.
- Delegate and sponsorship targets. Setting them, tracking progress weekly, and flagging early if something's off-track. Remaining accountable.
- On-the-day delivery. Venue liaison, registration, supplier and AV coordination, troubleshooting, from setup to breakdown.
- Health & safety and accessibility. Built into every event from the planning stage, not bolted on afterwards.
- Reporting. Accurate monthly progress reports and post-event reports, plus contributing data and delivery insight into our end-of-programme impact report.

What We're Looking For
- Proven experience running large-scale business events end-to-end, ideally in a B2B, public sector, or economic development context.
- A track record of owning delegate numbers and/or commercial (sponsorship) targets, not just logistics.
- Someone who plans meticulously but is genuinely happy to get hands-on, walking the floorplan, testing registration systems, solving problems on the day.
- Strong organisational skills across multiple concurrent workstreams, with the judgement to prioritise under pressure.
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication, you'll be producing reports that go straight to our client.
- Comfortable directing colleagues and freelancers who don't report to you.
- High personal standards, and genuinely enthusiastic about doing this kind of work well.
The Details
Salary: Based on a full-time equivalent of circa £48,000–£55,000, reflecting the seniority and commercial accountability of this role. Baseline of £1,600 - £1,800 per month, rising to £2,500 - £2,800 during crunch & event months. (x3 times during contract)

Contract: Fixed-term, 7 months, aligned to the Essex Growth Agency events programme (runs to March/April 2027).
Hours: 9.30- 5pm.
Working Pattern:
- Standard Weeks: 2 days per week baseline (in our Billericay office, with travel across Essex for site visits).
- Pre-Event Crunch (The 14 days prior to an event): Increases by 2 additional days per week to a total of 4 days per week. Allowance to manage final delegate, sponsor, and logistical actions.
- Event Weeks: Includes 1 additional day during the specific week of the live event (3 days total that week).
Payment Terms: The baseline salary is paid in equal monthly instalments. Additional crunch and event days are itemised and paid directly within the calendar month they are worked.
This salary reflects that additional time; there's no separate overtime payment.
