Events Officer
Trinity College Cambridge is seeking to recruit an Events Officer to join the Communications Office for a 12-month fixed-term appointment. This is a unique opportunity to help deliver a programme of high-profile events, public lectures, creative arts initiatives and landmark College anniversaries, including celebrations connected with Isaac Newton, the Great Court Run and Trinity’s wider public engagement activities.

Trinity College, founded in 1546 by Henry VIII, is one of the largest Colleges in the University of Cambridge, with some 720 undergraduates, 380 graduate students, 200 Fellows and around 360 non-academic staff. The beauty and size of Trinity’s courts attract visitors from all over the world, but the College is also a thriving, modern community, which exists to give its members a rewarding, richly resourced, and intellectually inspiring place in which to pursue their education and research.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the planning, delivery and promotion of a wide range of high-profile public events and significant College anniversaries taking place throughout 2026 and 2027. Working closely with the Communications Office, Fellows, College departments and external partners, you will help create engaging experiences that celebrate Trinity’s history, strengthen community connections and enhance public engagement.

The role will support major projects including events connected with the installation of Trinity’s new Master, the 300th anniversary of Isaac Newton’s death, the centenary of the Great Court Run, the 400th anniversary of John Ray’s birth, Trinity’s public lecture programme and a variety of creative arts initiatives. You will coordinate event logistics, liaise with speakers and stakeholders, oversee event delivery, assist with budgets, undertake risk assessments and evaluate event success to help shape future programmes.

Requirements
- Proven experience of event coordination
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- High level of IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience of working within a higher education environment
- Knowledge of social media, website content management, and collegiate University systems would be advantageous

Person Specification
- Enthusiastic, creative, and adaptable
- Ability to build productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, with time off in lieu provided where appropriate

Location and Contract
- Rate of Pay: £31,000 to £36,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Hours: Full-time (36.25 hours per week averaged across the year). Applications from candidates wishing to work 4 days per week will also be considered
- Location: The position is based on site at Trinity College, Cambridge
- Contract: Fixed term for 12 months
