About the role
Are you friendly, confident, and outgoing with plenty of enthusiasm and a can-do attitude? Are you a highly organized individual? If so, we have an excellent opportunity for an Events Sales Manager to join the Events Sales Team, within the Property Division at an internationally renowned top 10 university in the world.
You will actively promote and sell the events and conference facilities and services to internal staff, corporate clients, organisations, schools, groups, and agents. The objective of this role, and the team, is twofold. You will be required to generate revenue from external clients to increase profitability and space utilisation and grow internal business, meeting Imperial’s needs for events and conferencing.
What you would be doing
You will lead and develop your direct reports, ensuring they are supported and manage effective recruitment, training, performance management, workload planning, and ongoing development. You will foster a culture of excellent customer service, build strong working relationships, and ensure your team operates efficiently and effectively.
A key part of your role will be driving business growth. You will develop strategic sales plans, identify new market opportunities, build high-value and repeat business, and work closely with marketing colleagues to deliver campaigns, analyse performance, and strengthen relationships across the Imperial community.

You will oversee the full sales process, from managing enquiries and preparing proposals to negotiating contracts and securing new business. You will maintain strong client relationships, achieve sales targets, monitor market activity, and ensure your team contributes to the overall commercial success of the business.
You will also be responsible for overseeing events from enquiry through to delivery, gathering client feedback, supporting promotional activities, managing budgets and financial reporting, ensuring accurate invoicing, and maintaining compliance with health and safety, data protection, and other regulatory requirements.
What we are looking for
- Degree or equivalent, preferably sales, marketing, or business-related qualification
- Previous experience of managing a team, with proven ability to train, develop, motivate, and lead team members
- Demonstrable management level commercial sales and marketing experience, ideally in a higher-education environment or hotel/conferencing venues
- Experience of developing and implementing a sales’ and marketing strategy for a multi-venue commercial environment
- Ability to create, present and implement multi-projects and campaigns at any one time
- Demonstrable experience using Content Management Systems for writing, editing, and updating digital and print content
- Proven experience of analysing data to demonstrate ROI, and to inform future sales and marketing strategies
- Experience using social media in a business context
- A sound understanding of the hotel/conferencing industry and a high level of commercial awareness of the social, economic and market influences impacting the hospitality sector
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and be confident with working and liaising with colleagues and senior staff
- Be flexible and able to work longer hours at business-critical times and across all Imperial campuses which may include evenings and weekends, as and when required
