Deliver events alongside the spectacular collection of the Fitzwilliam Museum
£12.71 per hour, via Cambridge Casual Workers System
The Fitzwilliam Museum Events team run a broad range of events within the Museum setting, from lectures and dinners to special openings and private views.
We are now seeking Events Stewards with fantastic customer service skills to support our busy events programme. This is ‘casual work’ and shifts are offered when events are running so working hours vary and shift patterns are flexible - you accept the shifts you are able to work. Most of our events take place in the evening from 5pm and we have on average at least 4 events per month. There could also be the potential for additional daytime shifts during exhibitions.
Duties
- Set-up and break-down for an event
- Escorting guests and contractors through the museum
- Greeting visitors on arrival
- Light manual handling of tables, chairs, AV equipment and staging

Event stewarding is a physical role, with a requirement to be active throughout the shift.
Requirements
- Superb customer service
- Excellent timekeeping
- Can-do attitude
- Ability to think on your feet and respond to unexpected changes if necessary
- Great communication skills to work with a wide range of clients and audiences
You will report to the Events Manager and work alongside colleagues from our Visitor Experience and Security teams, supported by our Duty Managers and Conservators. You’ll support our catering team and external contractors to carry out their work at the event and help escort and guide them around our building. You will work to the Museum’s Standard Operating Procedures to ensure the safety and security of the visitors, the collection and your colleagues.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within the Museum sector and events industry, as well as adding to your customer service experience.
