WearCareers is a local training provider based in the North East of England, committed to supporting learners and communities through high-quality education. The organisation delivers first aid training, education and training qualifications, and a range of community workshops designed to develop practical skills and confidence. WearCareers works closely with local partners and participants to create accessible learning opportunities that respond to regional needs. Potential team members will join a small, focused provider where their contribution directly impacts the development and success of learners in the community.
Role Description
The Ex-Military Op Engage Tutor is an ad hoc role based in Sunderland. This position focuses on delivering structured training and engagement sessions to individuals with a military background or interest, supporting their transition, skills development, and confidence building. Day-to-day tasks include planning and delivering lessons, creating learning materials, providing feedback, and delivering engaging workshops.

Qualifications
- Experience in teaching, training, mentoring, or coaching, ideally within adult or vocational education.
- Background in the military or working with ex-military personnel, with the ability to engage and support diverse learner needs.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills, with the ability to build rapport and motivate learners.
- Organisational and planning skills, including lesson preparation, classroom management, and record keeping.
- Relevant teaching or training qualification (e.g., PTLLS, Award in Education and Training) or willingness to work towards one.
- First aid training experience or qualification is beneficial, as well as familiarity with community-based learning initiatives.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusive practice in all learning activities.
- Ability to work in school and community settings in Sunderland and collaborate effectively as part of a small training team.

What’s on offer:
- One day per week for eight weeks
- Up to 32 sessions available
- £120 per day
- The opportunity to make a genuine difference in young people’s lives
We would particularly like to hear from former military personnel with experience in one or more of the following:
- Schools or other educational settings
- Pupil Referral Units (PRUs)
- Teaching, training, coaching, or instruction
- Supporting and engaging young people
Enhanced DBS certificate is essential.
