Description

Itchen Sixth Form College is seeking to appoint additional exam invigilators to join our current team. You will be required to cover the exam periods in November & January and throughout May & June, although there may be some additional cover required at other times throughout the year to cover mock and ad-hoc exams. Exam session times vary so flexibility is required (morning sessions start at approx. 9.00am, afternoon sessions start at approx. 1.00pm).

The role requires you to provide a professional examination service ensuring a calm environment to give candidates the best possible opportunity to be successful in their exams.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Must be reliable and punctual;
  • Has good people skills;
  • Has good attention to detail;
  • Can quickly follow written instructions and work accurately to ensure errors are not made in the administration of examinations.

Although past experience in a similar role would be desirable it is not essential as full training will be provided.

Salary: £14.38p/h including holi allowance
Closing Date: Friday 11th September 2026
Interview Date: Wednesday 16th September 2026
Start Date: November 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide support to the examinations process & support the Examinations Manager with the day-to-day operation of examination venues.
  • Assisting with setting-up examination venues including laying out stationery, equipment and examination papers or computer set up in accordance with strict procedures.
  • Assisting candidates prior to the start of examinations by directing them to their seats and advising them about possessions permitted in examination venues.
  • Ensuring that candidates do not talk once inside examination venues.
  • Invigilating during examinations, dealing with queries raised by candidates, ensuring malpractice does not occur and dealing with examination irregularities in accordance with strict procedures.
