About This Role
Work where it matters most, achieve what matters more
At Ormiston Rivers Academy, we believe every young person deserves the chance to show what they can do. As our Examinations Officer, you will make sure that moment runs smoothly, fairly and securely, giving students calm, well-organised exams so they can focus on doing their best. You'll plan the exam season, manage entries with awarding bodies, and lead and develop our team of invigilators. You'll also work with our SENCo to make sure every eligible student has the access arrangements they need. All of this puts you at the heart of one of the most important times in our students' school lives. Working closely with senior leaders, you will keep the academy compliant with JCQ regulations and help make sure our students' hard work leads to the results they deserve.
Why you?
You are highly organised, calm under pressure and take real pride in getting the details right. You may already have experience in exams administration, or in a busy, deadline-driven role where accuracy and confidentiality really matter, and you're keen to keep learning as regulations change. You communicate clearly and confidently with students, parents, colleagues and outside organisations. You enjoy leading a team and helping others develop, so everyone knows exactly what's expected of them. You're comfortable using systems such as Arbor and Microsoft Office, and you're happy to work flexible hours during the busy exam periods. Above all, you care about young people and want to help them take their next steps with confidence.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
