About This Role

Exams Assistant

Part Time: 30 hours per week term time

Working Hours: Core hours will be 9am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday with a flexible working pattern to ensure full examination coverage during exam periods, with time off in lieu where appropriate.

Salary: Support Staff Scale C, £26,017 to £27,110 FTE per annum

Actual Salary: £18,092.90 to £18,853 per annum

Fixed term contract to end of July 2027

About the Role

As Exams Assistant, you will:

  • Coordinate and administer access arrangement assessments for students.
  • Liaise with the SEND team to identify students requiring assessment and support.
  • Organise rooms, staffing and paperwork for in-class assessments and examinations.
  • Maintain accurate records and evidence required for access arrangements.
  • Process and distribute information relating to dyslexia screening and specialist reports.
  • Support the preparation of examination materials and student paperwork.
  • Assist with examination timetabling, rooming and invigilator allocation.
  • Help train staff who undertake invigilation duties.
  • Work alongside the Exams Officer during examination periods to ensure examinations run smoothly and in line with JCQ regulations.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Exams Officer and SEND department.

  • Has strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Can manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Is confident using IT systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Has experience working in an educational or administrative setting (desirable).
