Role Overview
We are looking for skilled Excavator Operators to join our groundwork teams on a busy project in Horsham, West Sussex. You will operate 35T tracked excavators across a variety of groundwork, drainage, demolition support, and material handling tasks, including breaker work, obstruction removal, crusher feeding operations, and loading articulated dump trucks (ADTs), whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety and plant care.
We have long-term work available, 10 hours paid per day, with competitive rates for suitable candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating 35T tracked excavators safely and efficiently across a range of groundwork activities.
- Digging strip foundations, trenches, and bulk excavations to drawings and levels.
- Breaking out concrete, hardstanding, and obstructions using hydraulic breaker attachments.
- Identifying and removing below-ground obstructions and unsuitable materials.
- Loading dumpers and Articulated Dump Trucks (ADTs) safely and efficiently.
- Working alongside and feeding material into crushing operations where required.
- Operating in support of crusher and material recycling activities.
- Topsoil levelling, Type 1 / crush placement, and road formation works.
- Lifting and working with trench boxes, manhole boxes, and trench sheets.
- Acknowledging the need for dig permits before breaking ground.
- Experienced working around live services and using service avoidance techniques.
- Carrying out daily pre-start plant safety inspections and maintenance checks.
- Carrying out essential greasing and basic maintenance, keeping machines clean and tidy.
- Working closely with site management and groundworks teams to maintain programme targets.

REQUIREMENTS
- CPCS / NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) Excavator Above & Below 10T Tracked*.
- Experience operating 35T excavators.
- Experience using hydraulic breaker attachments.
- Proven experience in excavation, obstruction removal, and bulk earthworks.
- Experience loading ADTs and dumpers safely and productively.
- CPCS Lifting Ops / NPORS* Excavator as Crane.
- Safety Critical Medical (site specific).
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work well with other trades.
- Right to work in the UK.
DESIRABLE
- Experience operating alongside or feeding a crusher plant.
- Crusher Operator experience.
- EPO ADT (Earthworks Plant Operator Articulated Dump Truck) experience or ticket.
- CPCS / NPORS* Forward Tipping Dumper.
- CPCS / NPORS* Ride-On Roller.
- CPCS / NPORS* Telehandler.
- CPCS / NPORS* Quick Hitch Attachment.
- GPS machine control experience.
- 5+ years of earthworks, demolition support, or groundworks experience.
