Exchange Engineer

DGH Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading client in the Professional Services industry who require an Microsoft Exchange Engineer to join the firm in London on an initial 4 month contract basis.

PLEASE NOTE: This role will fall inside IR35.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end migration, remediation, and decommissioning of their Microsoft Exchange 2016 environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess Exchange architecture, mail flow, SMTP dependencies, and migration readiness.
  • Design, build, configure, and support Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE) environments.
  • Plan and deliver Exchange 2016 migration activities to Exchange SE and/or Exchange Online, including mailbox migrations and coexistence activities.
  • Implement mail flow, SMTP relay, and messaging remediation activities required to support domain, identity, tenant, and email address changes.
  • Work with infrastructure, networking, security, identity, Microsoft 365, Mimecast, and Proofpoint teams to deliver messaging and email security solutions.
  • Coordinate testing, cutover, validation, and post-migration support activities.
  • Decommission Exchange 2016 infrastructure and associated messaging services following successful migration.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve messaging, mail flow, SMTP, authentication, certificate, DNS, and connectivity issues.
  • Maintain technical documentation, migration records, risks, and dependencies.

Required Experience:

  • Hands-on experience with Exchange Server 2016, Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE), Exchange Online, and hybrid messaging environments.
  • Experience delivering Exchange migrations, mail flow transformations, and SMTP relay remediation activities.
  • Experience working with Mimecast, Proofpoint, or similar email security and gateway platforms.
  • Experience supporting environments impacted by Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, networking, and certificate changes.
  • Experience coordinating technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver messaging solutions.
  • Experience supporting testing, cutover, migration, and decommissioning activities within large enterprise environments.
