Company Description

The Senedd is the Welsh Parliament, representing the people of Wales and working in their interests. It is responsible for making decisions on key national issues and scrutinizing the actions of the Welsh Government. The Senedd creates laws, shapes public policy, and ensures public resources are used responsibly. Its work is focused on accountability, transparency, and improving outcomes for communities across Wales.

Role Description

The Executive Advisor role is a contract position based in Cardiff with a hybrid working arrangement, allowing a mix of office and work-from-home days. The Executive Advisor will provide high-level strategic advice and support to senior leaders within the Senedd, helping to shape policy, guide decision-making, and anticipate emerging risks and opportunities. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing briefings and reports, analyzing complex information, coordinating stakeholder engagement, and supporting meetings, committees, and external events. The role involves collaborating with internal teams, liaising with government and public sector partners, and ensuring that advice and documentation are clear, accurate, and aligned with the Senedd’s objectives. The Executive Advisor is expected to manage priorities effectively, handle sensitive information with discretion, and contribute to a constructive, inclusive working culture.

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and present clear, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing briefings, reports, and presentations for senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders across government, public sector, and community organizations.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in public policy, governance, legislative processes, or a related field; prior exposure to parliamentary or government environments is an advantage.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • Comfort with hybrid working arrangements and digital collaboration tools, such as video conferencing and shared document platforms.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in politics, public administration, law, social sciences, or a comparable discipline.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and serving the interests of communities across Wales; ability to work effectively with people from varied backgrounds.
