Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment

Executive Assistant

This is a full-time post

Salary from £43,277 to £51,714 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £55,497 pa inclusive of London allowance.

This appointment is funded for two years with extension subject to further funding.

The Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment is a world-leading centre for research on climate change, the environment and sustainable development at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Its work has been recognised through the award of the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education 2020–22.

We are seeking an outstanding and highly organised Executive Assistant to join the Grantham Research Institute's Professional Services team. Working closely with the Institute Director, Professor Elizabeth Robinson, and the Senior Management Team, you will provide high-level executive support while helping to ensure the smooth and effective operation of one of the world's leading climate research institutes.

This is a varied and rewarding role, combining proactive executive support with responsibility for coordinating senior meetings, governance activities, international travel, events and key Institute communications. You will build strong relationships with colleagues and external partners, contribute to improving systems and processes, and play an important role in supporting the delivery of the Institute's strategic priorities.

Candidates Should Have

  • Demonstrable experience providing executive or administrative support to senior stakeholders in academic, policy, philanthropic or fundraising environments.
  • Proven experience of planning, coordinating and delivering complex activities on behalf of senior leaders, including responsibility for all logistics, scheduling and stakeholder liaison.
  • Excellent command of the English language and ability to communicate information clearly, accurately and with diplomacy both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise own workload while maintaining high standards and meeting competing deadlines, adapting quickly to shifting priorities, new demands, or urgent tasks under minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to provide a consistently high standard of executive support to senior staff, maintaining discretion and professionalism at all times.
  • Ability to work proactively and collaboratively as part of a small, high-performing team, supporting the collective priorities of senior staff and colleagues.
