Department of Economics

Executive Assistant

Salary from £36,513pa to £41,565pa inclusive, pro rata, with potential to progress to £44,468pa inclusive, pro rata, at 21 hours per week.

This is initially a 2-year contract with potential to be extended.

The Department of Economics is one of the largest economics departments in the World, with over 70 faculty and 1100 students. The Department is seeking a highly committed and motivated Executive Assistant

to work within the department’s Operations team, supporting high profile professors and the Faculty Affairs Manager in delivering objectives and business support.

The post holder will need to have proven administrative experience at a senior level with a particular focus on maintaining diaries and calendars as well as having outstanding attention to detail and accuracy. Experience of business support is highly desirable.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, together with confidence in liaising with senior external contacts. Previous experience in a higher education setting is desirable, as is an understanding of academic processes. The post holder will be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and work collaboratively with colleagues across the School and within the Department.

The elements of the role require a high level of planning, organising workloads and collaborative working, along with balancing the needs of individuals, whilst managing expectations.

The post holder should be able to demonstrate experience of planning a busy workload with a variety of tasks and multiple deadlines.

Candidates must have secretarial and/or administrative experience at a senior level with a particular focus on complex diary management, excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint along with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and with all formats of written correspondence and confidence in dealing with external contacts at the highest level.
