If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking a professional to join our team in the role of Executive Assistant for Global Head of Institutional Sales

This role requires to be in office for all 5 days

The Executive Assistant provides high-quality, proactive and discreet support to the Global Head of Institutional Sales, helping manage priorities, time, decisions and stakeholder engagement effectively. The role is responsible for ensuring the leadership team is well prepared for meetings, travel, leadership forums and key business activities. This includes diary and inbox support, planning and logistics, preparation of papers and briefing materials, coordination across stakeholders, and follow-up of actions.

Could potentially suit a recent graduate looking for a role that gives exposure to the trading floor.

The role requires strong judgement, attention to detail, confidentiality and the ability to anticipate needs before they become issues. It will act as a trusted partner to the leadership team, helping create the time and space needed to focus on strategic priorities, people leadership and delivery.

Alongside core executive support responsibilities, the role offers exposure to a fast-paced markets environment and to work underway to improve workflows through the practical use of AI. It would suit a highly capable, organised and intellectually curious individual who is interested in financial markets and keen to gain experience in a trading floor environment. This is first and foremost an Executive Assistant role, but one with broad exposure to front-office activity, strategic priorities and evolving AI-enabled ways of working.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
