Executive Assistant & Office Manager
AI Research Start-Up | Clerkenwell, London | Up to £75,000
I’m recruiting for an ambitious AI research start-up at an exciting stage of growth, and I’m particularly keen to speak with candidates who have worked within technology start-ups or scale-ups.
This is a fantastic dual role supporting two founders while taking ownership of the day-to-day running of their Clerkenwell office.
The company is developing next-generation AI technology, bringing together an exceptionally talented team from AI, machine learning, computer science, neuroscience, psychology and physics. It’s a small, highly collaborative and low-ego environment where people are trusted to take ownership, solve problems and contribute beyond the boundaries of their job title.
The Role
You’ll sit at the heart of the business, with responsibility across:
- High-level EA support to two founders, including complex diaries, travel, meetings, correspondence and priorities
- Full ownership of office and workplace operations
- Managing suppliers, contractors, building management and facilities
- Supporting office leasing/subleasing activity and potential tenants
- Employee onboarding/offboarding and basic People administration
- Events, research gatherings and conferences
- Building better systems and processes as the company scales
- Using AI and technology to automate administration and improve workflows

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You
We’re particularly interested in people who understand start-up life: changing priorities, lots of autonomy, wearing multiple hats and getting things done without waiting for a detailed playbook. You'll ideally bring experience from a tech start-up or scale-up, alongside Founder/C-suite support and office management or workplace operations.

Previous exposure to office leasing, subleasing, office moves or office expansion would be particularly desirable.
You’ll be proactive, highly organised, resourceful, tech-savvy and comfortable switching between high-level Founder support and hands-on operational tasks.
This would suit an EA to Founder, Executive Assistant & Office Manager, Office Manager, Workplace Manager or EA/Operations professional looking to join a business early enough to have real influence as it grows.
