Overview
As Executive Assistant, you will provide executive level support to the Centre Director and Director of Education to ensure they are fully supported in their day-to-day roles and on projects and activities related to the Centre of Engineering Education and Skills, the Faculty of Engineering and the University. Due to the complexity of the Director’s role, it is essential that the post-holder is able to work quickly to meet deadlines, to balance competing priorities and to be proactive, forward planning to anticipate requirements and put in place arrangements.
Strong team-working skills are required, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail. Much of the business of the Director’s office is highly confidential and sensitive and may have human resources or public relations implications, and so the ability to act with discretion and sensitivity is critical.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
