The successful candidate will be confident working independently, able to build trusted relationships with a wide range of people, and comfortable representing the Archdeaconry in a professional, welcoming and discreet manner.

- Preparing agendas, papers, reports, briefing notes and meeting records for Archdeaconry meetings and related activity.
- Maintaining accurate records and supporting diocesan and Archdeaconry processes, including those linked to clergy, parishes, buildings, governance and pastoral matters where required.
- Developing effective working relationships across the Island to support collaboration, local understanding and timely resolution of queries.
- Supporting arrangements for Archdeaconry governance, visitations, licensing, collation, installation or other clergy and parish-related processes where required.
- Undertaking diary, correspondence and appointment management where this supports the wider work of the Archdeaconry.
- Supporting the delivery of strategic priorities, local initiatives and operational improvements across the Archdeaconry.
- Helping to ensure the effective day-to-day functioning of the Archdeaconry office, including clear systems, good information flow and reliable follow-up.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen communication and support consistent ways of working across the Island.
- Handling confidential, pastoral or sensitive matters appropriately, in line with diocesan policies and safeguarding expectations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
