Job Title: Executive Assistant to CEO
Job Location: Farnborough, Hampshire
Role Type: Permanent, Fulltime, onsite
Role ID: 20564
The best Executive Assistants don't just manage diaries, they create capacity, build connections, drive efficiencies, and enable leaders to perform at their best.
At QinetiQ we're looking for an exceptional Executive Assistant to our CEO to join us in a highly visible and influential role at the heart of the organisation. This is more than executive support. We're seeking a trusted partner who will work closely with our CEO, building strong relationships and networks across the business and beyond, driving efficiencies through technology and smarter ways of working, and helping ensure strategic priorities are delivered.
As the face of the CEO's Office, you'll be a confident communicator, an outstanding organiser, and someone who thrives on bringing order to complexity. You'll also be exceptional in the fundamentals, managing a complex, demanding, and ever-changing diary, coordinating meetings and travel, handling communications, and ensuring the smooth running of the CEO's day-to-day activities.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Consultative, proactive, and solutions-focused
- Passionate about continuous improvement and innovation
- Tech-savvy and comfortable driving efficiencies through digital tools
- An exceptional relationship builder and communicator
- Flexible, adaptable, and resilient
- A genuine team player who leads through influence, not hierarchy
- Experienced supporting senior leaders in fast-paced environments
A word of caution: this is not a role for someone seeking a steady, predictable, structured, or routine working environment. The CEO's Office is a fast-paced, high-pressure environment where priorities can change quickly. We're looking for an outstanding EA who remains calm, upbeat, and resilient whilst operating at pace and managing competing demands.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
