Role Description
The Executive Chef at Maxxi Childcare is a full-time, on-site role based in the London Area, United Kingdom. The Executive Chef oversees the planning, preparation, and delivery of nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks that meet regulatory standards and individual dietary requirements, including allergies and cultural preferences. The role also involves:
- Supervising kitchen staff
- Maintaining cost-effective food production
- Collaborating with childcare and management teams to align meal plans with children’s developmental needs
The Executive Chef will regularly review feedback from parents and staff to continuously improve meal quality, variety, and presentation.
Qualifications
- Professional culinary training or equivalent experience, with proven expertise in menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen management.
- Strong knowledge of nutrition for young children, including experience accommodating allergies, intolerances, and diverse dietary and cultural requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and health and safety compliance in a commercial or institutional kitchen.
- Experience supervising or leading kitchen teams, including scheduling, training, and performance oversight.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with childcare staff, management, and parents.
- Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple meal services, manage inventory, and control food costs.
- Relevant certifications such as Food Safety and Hygiene Level 2 or 3, allergen awareness training, and first aid are highly beneficial.
- Previous experience in childcare, education, healthcare catering, or other family-centered environments is an advantage.
