Executive Director of Transformation & Technology

Do you believe technology should transform an organisation, not just support it?

Can you lead business-wide change while giving technology the leadership and direction it needs to become a genuine strategic enabler?

Gentoo is looking for an Executive Director of Transformation & Technology to lead the next phase of its technology and transformation journey. This is a genuine leadership role in the Executive Team of one of the UK's leading Housing Associations, with aspirations to be the best social housing provider in the country.

Your role will take ownership of how technology, data, change and delivery come together to improve housing services and local communities for over 60,000 people.

If you're an experienced technology and transformation leader who enjoys building capability, influencing at Board level and using technology to drive meaningful organisational change, then this could be an amazing and purpose-led Executive opportunity for you.

The company

Gentoo is one of the largest housing providers in the Northeast, managing around 30,000 homes across Sunderland and employing over 1,100 colleagues who are passionate about providing safe, warm homes and outstanding services.

The organisation has ambitious plans, and continues to invest in people’s homes, communities and services, while being one of the highest performing housing providers in the country.

Gentoo has significantly modernised its technology landscape with major investment across enterprise architecture, cloud technologies, data, cyber security and core business systems, while a large-scale transformation programme is underway to modernise the organisation's technology estate.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Executive leadership across Technology, Transformation, PMO, Data or Digital functions.
  • Leading technology and digital transformation within a complex organisation.
