Join us. Shape the future. Lead a council where people THRIVE.

West Northamptonshire is a place of huge opportunities and endless possibilities. Proud of our heritage, ambitious about our future, and driven by a clear, shared vision: to make West Northants a great place to live, work, visit and thrive.

As one of the UK's newest unitary authorities, we have already achieved a great deal. Now we are entering our next phase of transformation, focused on delivering excellent services, driving innovation, ensuring financial sustainability and creating an organisation that is fit for the future.

Local government is at a turning point. Communities face increasing complexity, demand for services continues to grow and councils are being asked to deliver more impact than ever before with finite resources. Public expectations are changing and technology is transforming how organisations operate.

We believe these challenges also offer extraordinary opportunities and we are looking for an exceptional Executive Director of Resource to help us harness these.

As our Executive Director of Resources, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of West Northamptonshire Council. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will provide strategic leadership across a broad portfolio of critical corporate services that underpin everything we do as well as being responsible for some front line services too.

Your responsibilities will include leadership of Finance and Procurement, Human Resources, Customer Services, Legal and Democratic, Transformation, Digital, Data and Technology, Revenues and Benefits, Pensions, Business Intelligence, Coroners and Registrars, Regulatory Services, and Audit and Risk.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
