How will I help?
This is a senior Operational Risk role within our UK & Europe Risk team, providing independent oversight, insight and challenge across a broad range of banking, financial markets and treasury activities.
Reporting to the Head of Risk, UK & Europe, you will partner closely with business leaders, risk specialists and control functions to ensure operational risks are effectively identified, assessed and managed. You'll play a key role in supporting strategic initiatives, strengthening operational resilience, overseeing business change and helping the business navigate an evolving risk and regulatory landscape.
The successful candidate may be appointed at either Executive Manager or Senior Manager level, depending on experience and capability.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide independent second line oversight of operational risk management practices across the UK & Europe business.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to provide risk advice, insight and challenge that supports effective decision making and delivery of business objectives.
- Assess and challenge the effectiveness of the operational risk and control environment, ensuring risks are managed within appetite.
- Lead thematic reviews, deep dive assessments and risk analysis across key operational risk areas.
- Provide risk insights and reporting to senior management and governance forums, including emerging risks, control weaknesses and remediation activities.
- Oversee and challenge operational resilience capabilities, including business continuity planning, critical services and scenario testing.
- Provide oversight and challenge of third party and outsourcing risk management practices.
- Support major business and technology initiatives, ensuring risks arising from change are appropriately identified and managed.
- Monitor industry developments, regulatory trends and external events, translating these into meaningful insights and recommendations.
- Promote a strong risk culture through effective engagement, challenge and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For
- Significant experience in Operational Risk, Non-Financial Risk, Risk Advisory, Compliance, Controls or related risk management roles within financial services.
- Experience operating at Senior Manager, Director, Executive Director or equivalent level within a banking or regulated financial services environment.
- Strong understanding of operational risk frameworks, governance, controls and regulatory expectations.
- Experience within Corporate & Institutional Banking, Treasury, Financial Markets or broader banking businesses is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to provide credible challenge and influence senior stakeholders.
- Experience supporting business transformation, strategic projects or significant change initiatives from a risk perspective.
- Strong understanding of operational resilience, third party risk management and control effectiveness.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and analytical skills.
- A commercial and pragmatic approach to risk management, with the ability to balance risk and business objectives.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a complex and regulated environment.
