This isn't traditional recruitment.

You'll specialise in Quantitative Trading and Software Engineering, identifying and representing some of the most sought-after technology talent in the market and placing them into elite buy-side firms across the US.

Think software engineers from Google, Meta and other leading technology companies, as well as experienced talent moving between the world's leading hedge funds and quantitative trading firms.

These are highly specialised hires, often involving compensation packages worth millions of dollars over the course of a career. The market is genuinely high-value: current US buy-side demand remains particularly strong across quantitative research, trading and engineering.

The numbers

  • Average fee in 2025: $240,000

  • Typical deal cycle: 6 weeks – 6 months
  • 70% of candidates: sourced from outside financial services, including companies such as Google and Meta

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You're not working a volume desk. You're working on a small number of highly valuable searches where the quality of your research, candidate management and execution matters.

Why this role is different

180/270-degree search

There is no traditional cold-calling BD requirement. The focus is on finding, engaging and managing exceptional candidates through complex hiring processes.

You'll work on searches where you're dealing with:

  • Elite software engineers, quants and technology specialists
  • Hedge funds, quantitative trading firms and investment businesses
  • Candidates commanding eight-figure compensation packages
  • Complex processes lasting anywhere from six weeks to six months

You'll also learn directly from consultants who have already built seven-figure billing desks, giving you exposure to how genuine executive search is done from day one.

Boutique, without the stuffiness.

Small enough that you'll get responsibility quickly, but established enough to have the clients, network and track record to work on searches that most graduate recruiters simply won't see.

What we're looking for

We're less interested in whether you've recruited before and more interested in how you think and how you operate.

We're looking for graduates who are:

  • Methodical – able to work through complex information without losing sight of the bigger picture
  • Commercially curious – interested in understanding businesses, markets and what motivates high-performing people
  • Driven – genuinely ambitious about developing a career rather than simply finding a first job
  • Personable – confident speaking with senior candidates and clients and able to build credibility quickly
  • Resilient – comfortable working on searches where patience and persistence matter
  • Detail-focused – able to manage multiple moving parts across a six-week to six-month process

You don't need previous recruitment experience.

You could be a 2:1 graduate from a strong university, someone with sales or commercial experience, or simply someone who can demonstrate that you've consistently pushed yourself to perform at a high level.
