I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The opportunity
Partners currently lead CFO searches alongside their wider C-suite mandates. The firm now wants to build a dedicated CFO practice, led by someone who can deliver excellent searches and develop their own relationships with investors and portfolio company leaders.
You’ll receive CFO mandates from existing partners while building your own pipeline. You’ll have access to an established network, experienced colleagues and technology and infrastructure the firm has invested in heavily. The approach is thorough and relationship-led, with many client partnerships spanning more than a decade.
We’re keen to speak with someone who:
- Has a strong track record placing CFOs into private equity backed businesses.
- Can win work through their relationships with investors, Chairs, CEOs and finance leaders.
- Is equally committed to business development and delivering searches to a high standard.
- Is comfortable working independently and collaborating with partners when it benefits clients.
