About This Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Vice-Chancellor’s Office as an Executive Support Officer. The role will provide high-level support to the Pro Vice-Chancellor International including proactive diary management, complex travel arrangements, committee servicing, tracking actions, preparing presentations, briefings and reports, undertaking research and problem-solving, and managing small improvement projects.

Working within the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, the role carries a broad and varied remit and would suit applicants who are keen to develop a professional career within higher education.
About You
The successful candidate must have relevant executive support experience (including diary management, experience with managing complex travel, and committee servicing).
In this fast-paced and varied role, you will be able to assess and prioritize tasks effectively and be comfortable working under pressure to meet deadlines. You will be proactive in your approach and be able to work with minimum supervision.
You will have a professional manner, coupled with strong interpersonal skills, and will understand the importance of confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy at all times. You will also be confident in your ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of contacts both across and external to the university and be able to build and maintain good working relationships.

A high level of IT skills will be required, including Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook.
Previous experience working within an HE environment or large, complex professional organization will be an advantage.

This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed.

Interviews are expected to take place on our Frenchay Campus on Tuesday 15th September 2026.
This is a full-time, fixed-term post up to 12 months, working 37 hours per week.
This post is available on a job share basis for applicants wishing to work part-time.
UWE Bristol is a campus-based University, with vibrant campuses that are central to student life. This role is based on campus, but there will be some opportunity for hybrid working.
Salary offers will be made in line with the University’s salary assessment guidelines and will reflect your relevant skills and experience.
Right to Work in the UK
If offered a role, you will need to provide valid documentation confirming your right to work in the UK before employment begins. Guidance on acceptable documents is available via the Home Office Right to Work Checklist. Unfortunately, this role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.
Candidates without current Right to Work who are not eligible for Skilled Worker sponsorship or another Global Talent visa route, may wish to look into the Global Talent Peer Review route. This is a self-application process and is subject to you meeting qualifying criteria.
