Exercise Specialist – Belong Community
Salary & Hours
- Salary: £14.45 per hour
- Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Belong Community in Macclesfield, where you will help grow and develop both as an individual and as part of a new team. As an Exercise Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering care and improving health and well-being through exercise, particularly for older adults and those living with long-term conditions or dementia.
Key Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities
- Safely deliver a professional-standard exercise programme tailored to the needs of an older generation in line with Belong standards and values.
- Organise and deliver a diverse range of exercise activities aimed at improving physical and emotional well-being.
- Work closely with ** colleagues, GPs, and other health professionals** to design evidence-based exercise programs.
- Design well-rounded exercise programmes aimed at those with neurological conditions, including dementia, in collaboration with the Lead Exercise Specialist.

Supporting Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, and regularly review customer exercise needs in alignment with their electronic care plans.
- Develop and maintain a robust recording system for exercise sessions to meet Belong’s standards.
- Maintain up-to-date risk assessments within the studio and ensure compliance with relevant safety and infection control procedures.
- Conduct initial assessments and inductions, and daily safety briefings for all participants.
- Effectively communicate and demonstrate exercises to ensure understanding and safe participation.
- Assess and manage contraindications and health risks throughout exercise sessions.
- Collaborate with Belong Village teams, GPs, and external professionals to refine and improve services.
- Gather customer feedback and adapt exercise programs accordingly.
- Liaise between Belong Village staff and Belong at Home services to provide holistic support.
- Perform movement assistance and care transfers using appropriate aids when necessary.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- Level 3 Gym Instructor or Personal Trainer qualification.
- Level 3 Exercise Referral (GP Referral-Ready) or equivalent.
