Exotics Single Stocks Trader

The Exotics Single Stocks Trader plays a pivotal role within Citi's Equity Derivatives franchise, overseeing a sophisticated trading book focused on Single Stocks and Custom Indices across both vanilla and exotic derivatives products. This is a revenue-generating, client-facing VP-level position that demands exceptional market acumen, risk management discipline, and the ability to anticipate and respond to institutional and retail client demand in fast-moving markets. You will be responsible for actively trading the book to deliver budgeted P&L targets, managing multi-dimensional risk exposures (delta, gamma, vega, correlation, and dividend), and collaborating across Sales, Structuring, and other trading desks to build and expand the franchise. This role offers significant autonomy, strategic influence, and the opportunity to shape product innovation in one of the industry's most dynamic asset classes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Trade and manage the Single Stocks Exotics book, delivering consistent revenue generation while actively managing multi-dimensional risk (delta, gamma, vega, correlation, forward, financing and earnings/event risk) across exotic and vanilla products linked to stocks and custom indices
  • Provide competitive two-way pricing and market-making for institutional and retail client flow, including structured products, autocallables, dispersion trades and light exotic products, ensuring execution quality and risk capture
  • Anticipate and respond to client demand across both retail and institutional markets, partnering closely with Sales and Structuring to develop innovative custom baskets and tailor strategies that address evolving client needs
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key internal stakeholders (Sales, Quantitative Research, Technology, Operations) and external counterparties to generate flow, optimize execution, and drive franchise growth across regional markets
  • Coordinate cross-desk collaboration with Delta One, Flow Derivatives, Volatility Trading, and Prime Finance teams to manage inter-book risk, optimize hedging strategies, and capitalize on inter-asset opportunities, ensuring seamless client experience and operational efficiency
  • Lead rigorous governance, controls, and compliance standards, partnering with Legal, Compliance, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Audit, and Finance to ensure robust risk frameworks, transparent escalation protocols, adherence to Citi's Code of Conduct, and safeguarding of the firm's reputation through sound ethical judgment and regulatory compliance
  • Manage corporate action events and contract adjustments across the single-stock derivatives book, assessing their implications on pricing and hedging.
  • Partner with Sales to structure and execute bespoke risk-recycling solutions with institutional clients.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
