Downey Osborne is delighted to be partnering with a leading organisation to recruit an Expenses Assistant on a permanent, part-time basis. Based in Hillsborough, this is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive Finance team and take ownership of employee expenses processes across the business. Flexible working hours are available between 22.5 and 30 hours per week.

About You

You will have previous experience within an expenses, finance administration or similar role and will have excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and good numerical ability. You will also have:

  • At least two years’ relevant experience
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of UK and Ireland VAT requirements
  • The ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A full driving licence

Experience within construction or using expense management systems such as SAP Concur would be advantageous.

About Your New Role

You will support the effective management of employee expenses, ensuring claims are processed accurately, company policies are followed and all relevant VAT requirements are met.

  • Review and process employee expense claims
  • Check receipts and supporting documentation
  • Ensure claims comply with company policy
  • Review VAT treatment and maintain accurate records

Often

  • Reconcile company credit card statements
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Respond to employee expense queries
  • Support employees using the expenses system

Occasionally

  • Deliver training on the expenses system
  • Support the wider Finance team
  • Assist with additional duties as required

Never

  • Compromise on accuracy or attention to detail
  • Be responsible for naming the office plant.
