Mr. Star's Grooming Atelier
Mr. Star's Grooming Atelier is a Turkish-heritage barbershop at 353 Kensington High Street, London W8 6NW. We do one thing properly: a tailored cut, a clean beard, a menthol hot towel, and time taken over both. Our founder, Mehmet Yildiz, has built the shop on returning clients and a strong local reputation.
The Role
We're taking on two to three experienced barbers to join the team full-time. This is not a chair-rental arrangement: there is no chair fee and you don't need to bring your own client base. You'll work as part of the team, at our chairs, with a diary kept full by our booking system and our marketing.
- Tailored haircuts: scissor work, classic cuts, long-hair styling and skin fades
- Beard trims and traditional hot-towel shaves
- Grey coverage colour for hair and beard
- A proper consultation before every cut. We don't rush the chair.
What We're Looking For
- At least 5 years' experience in a professional barbershop
- Confident with skin fades and scissor work, and comfortable with a straight razor
- Conversational English and an easy manner with clients
- The right to work in the UK
- Your own core tools. We supply towels, products, colour and all consumables.

Hours
The shop is open Monday to Friday 09:00 to 19:30, Saturday 09:00 to 18:00 and Sunday 10:00 to 18:00. This is a full-time role: 4 to 5 days a week, 42 to 52 hours in total. Which days you work is something we agree with you.
Pay and How It Works
£13 to £15 per hour depending on experience, plus tips, which are yours in full. Pay is monthly.
One thing worth being clear about: you'll be engaged on a self-employed basis. That means no payslip. Instead, you send us a simple monthly invoice for your hours and we pay it in full, with no chair rent, no fees and no deductions. You look after your own tax and National Insurance, so you'll need to be registered as self-employed with HMRC (registration is free and we'll point you to it) and to hold your own public liability insurance.
