Your move.

You’re an experienced designer, but you know you’ve got more to give. You want to expand what you do, take on more responsibility and grow into a more rounded designer. Not by climbing another rung on a job title ladder, but by working across different challenges, formats and parts of a business.

Maven is an independent brand and experience consultancy based in Brighton. We work mainly with technology businesses and other organisations with complex problems to solve.

We believe the best creative work starts with understanding the business. So we get involved early, ask difficult questions, help shape the strategy and then turn that thinking into joined-up brands and experiences across screens, print and physical spaces.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We need someone who can move from a website to a workplace, a campaign to a customer journey, or a brand identity to a wayfinding system without worrying whether it fits neatly inside their job description.

Someone curious about how businesses work. Someone who asks good questions, gets under the skin of complicated subjects and turns them into something clear, useful and good to look at. Our work covers brand, digital, print, campaigns, video, content, interiors, events and signage. We’re not asking for expertise in all of it, just an interest in the whole picture and an understanding of how the different parts work together.

You’ll have strong foundations, a good body of professional work and the confidence to take ownership of projects, present your ideas and make sound design decisions. You’ll have support when you need it, but also the space to stretch yourself, try new things and play a bigger part in the work. We’re a hands-on team, so there isn’t much room for ego, hiding or saying, “That’s not really my thing.”

Salary is £28,000 to £32,000, depending on experience.

Send us your portfolio, CV and a short note explaining why Maven feels like the right next move. Please make the note sound like you wrote it.
