Experienced HGV Mechanic / Vehicle Assembly Fitter

Location: Stockport

Contract Type: Temporary / Contract

Are you an experienced mechanic looking for a rewarding new contract? We have a fantastic opportunity in Stockport delivering the assembly of specialized vehicles. You will be a key member of our dedicated manufacturing team, making high-quality equipment for the transport industry.

We are making it as easy and profitable as possible for you to get started, with supported travel and accommodation options available.

Package & Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: £18.00 per hour
  • Working Hours: 39-hour working week spread across 5 days (Note: Must be prepared to work a reasonable amount of overtime/different shifts when required).
  • Living Allowance: £25.00 tax-free allowance per day worked to cover meals and incidentals (eligibility based on candidate location).
  • Accommodation Covered: Hotel accommodation fully paid for by us (eligibility based on candidate location).
  • Travel Perks: Mileage paid at 55p per mile, calculated based on candidate location (up to the route from Evo to Stockport).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver the assembly of heavy vehicles within a dedicated manufacturing team.
  • Work accurately from engineering drawings to ensure high quality and precision.
  • Follow all standard work instructions and strictly adhere to health and safety protocols.
  • Work efficiently both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within the team to meet project deadlines.
  • Participate in problem-solving, seeing unexpected challenges as opportunities to overcome and improve processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified HGV Mechanic / Fitter with proven experience assembling vehicles (such as planes, trains, or automobiles).

Technical Skills

  • Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings.

Work Ethic

  • A flexible ‘can-do’ approach, high professionalism, discipline, and an orderly standard of work.
  • Strong safety consciousness and the ability to work to high standards with minimal supervision.
  • Prepared to work a reasonable amount of overtime or shift adjustments when required to meet demands.

Competitive Pay

  • £18.00 per hour

Working Pattern

  • 39 hours per week (Monday to Friday), with flexibility for overtime and shift variations as needed

Daily Allowance

  • £25.00 tax-free per day to cover expenses and meals (location-dependent)

Hotel Lodging

  • Fully funded hotel accommodation provided (location-dependent)

Travel Expense

  • 55p per mile mileage allowance, calculated from your location (capped up to the Evo-to-Stockport route)
