Pluck Kitchens – Experienced Kitchen Designer Wanted
Pluck Kitchens are looking for an experienced kitchen designer to join its talented design team at their HQ in Brixton, South London.
About Pluck:
Pluck kitchens celebrate beautiful materials and practical design. Our bespoke cabinetry and furniture has a pared back and clutter-free style, suited to classic and contemporary interiors, in combination with antique and modern furniture, art and all those other objects that make a kitchen feel like home. We work with our clients to create delicious and creative combinations drawn from our curated collections of colours and woods. As you will see from our Projects portfolio, no two Pluck kitchens are the same, a manifestation of our belief that the heart of the home should reflect the soul of the people who live there. We design and craft our cabinetry and furniture to order under one roof in South London. Our projects are UK-wide and beyond.
The Role:
We are looking for a passionate, creative, well-organised, self-motivated, and experienced kitchen designer, to join our skilled Design Team, selling Pluck kitchens to new clients.
- You will be the main point of contact for a core of our clients, so it is essential you are confident at communicating (verbal and written) and have an approachable and friendly manner.
- You will lead design consultations, which will involve thinking on the spot and coming up with creative ideas on how to improve a design. Rigorous prep for these meetings is of course key.
- This is an opportunity to design beautiful kitchens and see projects through from concept to completion, with scope to be creative, an understanding of how colours, woods, and materials work together, and an ‘eye’ for this essential.
- You will learn about the Pluck look and how our crafting processes work, you will need to understand clients’ wish-lists and personal preferences for their new kitchen, adapting designs to suit their requirements, but to also be confident in applying your expert knowledge to steer towards a more successful design.
- The design team works closely with our production team and install team, so internal lines of communication are vital to your role, along with an understanding of how kitchen furniture is made.
- As we are a small team, the role is diverse, from fielding initial emails and calls to design meetings, site visits, and more.
- Managing and keeping on top of multiple projects is key; a client should never have to chase us for an answer. You will be one of the individuals building on our reputation for offering an exceptional client experience.
- Ultimately, you must be able to sell your design of a Pluck kitchen.

Skills:
- Solid 2D skills, spatial awareness, and communication.
- We use 2D CAD to articulate design ideas whilst meeting with clients. You must be confident in your CAD abilities to not disrupt the flow of the meeting or hinder ideas being shown to hone the design. You must be adept at creating accurate representations of each kitchen to aid our clients in finalising their project.
- You must be skilled at listening to people and also interpreting their priorities and wishes for their space. The sensitivities around that, the different methods people have of expressing their ideas.
- A good knowledge of what makes successful kitchen design, not just layout, also appliances, worktops, tiles, floors, materials – knowing what will suit a project and why. We will, of course, train you on these in relation to Pluck’s offerings.
- Well-organised and proactive with the ability to work on multiple projects at multiple stages, keeping track and making sure no client is overlooked.
- It is implicit that you will have a passion for interiors and/or furniture design, will derive immense satisfaction from creating the best possible design for a kitchen.

Further Details:
- We are looking for a candidate with a minimum two years’ experience in a kitchen design role with lots of client interaction. Our preference is experience from a small company that has in-house production.
- The position is permanent, full-time, Monday to Friday with the expectation of some evening and weekend work to accommodate client meetings. The role is in-person at our HQ in Brixton, London.
- It comes with 24 days holiday (plus Bank Holidays as well as our Christmas shutdown).
- Salary dependent on experience.
