Join a fast-growing, employee-owned business where legal plays a key role in supporting commercial growth and smart decision-making.
At La Fosse, we're continuing to grow and build for the future. We're looking for an experienced Legal Adviser to join our in-house legal team in a visible, business-facing role. You'll work closely with senior leaders and teams across the business, helping them make informed decisions, manage risk and navigate legal matters in a practical, commercial way.
The Role
You'll act as a trusted legal partner to the business, providing practical support across commercial, employment, compliance and dispute matters. Working closely with the Head of Legal, you'll manage your own workload while helping to improve legal processes, governance and compliance across the organisation.
No two days will look the same. You could be negotiating commercial contracts, supporting HR on an employment matter, advising on legal risk, or creating training to help the wider business stay up to date with legislative changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clear, commercially focused legal advice across the business
- Manage legal inbox escalations and ensure queries are handled efficiently
- Draft, review and negotiate client terms, supplier agreements, NDAs, IP agreements and data processing agreements
- Support consultants with legal and commercial negotiations
- Maintain and improve legal templates, internal policies and key documentation
- Support litigation and dispute matters, including evidence gathering, bundles, statements and correspondence
- Work with HR on employment matters including policies, employee relations, settlement agreements, grievances, disciplinaries and redundancy processes
- Identify legal training needs and help create and deliver practical training for the business
- Support audits, reporting, document management and compliance activity
- Contribute ideas to strengthen legal governance as the business continues to grow

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements
We're looking for someone with strong legal experience who enjoys working closely with commercial stakeholders. Experience advising businesses on contracts, employment matters and legal risk is more important than following a traditional legal career path.
A solicitor qualification in England & Wales would be beneficial, but it isn't essential. We're more interested in your practical experience, commercial judgement and ability to give clear, pragmatic advice.
You'll likely bring:
- Strong legal experience, ideally in-house or in a commercial environment
- Good experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts
- Confidence advising non-legal stakeholders
- Strong communication and drafting skills
- Good judgement and the ability to balance risk with commercial priorities
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- A proactive, practical approach and willingness to get stuck in
