Overlooker/Weaving Technician - Stanley Mills

Stanley Mills Weavers is proud to be a specialist manufacturer of fine mohair fabrics and one of the few surviving mills with expertise in this unique craft. We produce luxurious pure wool and cashmere worsted suiting with a meticulous emphasis on quality. Stanley Mills Weavers is part of the SIL Holdings Group of Companies.

We are seeking an experienced Dornier Overlooker to join our small, skilled, and dynamic weaving team based in Bradford. Working on a rotating double day shift system, you will be one of two shift overlookers responsible for the day-to-day operation, efficiency, and quality of our 19 Dornier looms.

Applicants with experience on other loom types will be considered, with training provided where required.

  • Department: Weaving
  • Location: Stanley Mills, Bradford
  • Position: Full Time
  • Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (rotating)
  • Salary: £40,000 – £43,000 per annum, dependent on experience
  • Travel Required: No
  • Reports To: Weaving Manager

Role and Responsibilities

This role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Gear changes
  • Starting knot-ups
  • Carrying out quality checks
  • Efficiency and quality tuning
  • Routine loom maintenance, and fault resolution

Flexibility and a willingness to assist across all areas of weaving production are essential.

Shift Pattern (Rotating)

Week 1 (40 hours)
Monday to Friday: 6:00AM - 2:00PM

Monday to Thursday: 2:00PM - 10:00PM
Friday: 11:30AM - 7:30PM

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience as an Overlooker/Loom Tuner (essential)
  • Experience with Dornier looms preferred (training available if required)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
