Hi All!

Smith & Wardle Financial Planning is a small, directly authorised, dynamic, award-winning and totally fixed-fee, independent financial planning firm based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. We are dedicated to providing unbiased and straightforward advice. Our team prides itself on building long-term, valued relationships with our clients, putting them at the heart of everything we do.

The help we need

We have seen an exponential growth in our business and are seeking an experienced and technically awesome Paraplanner to join our young, growing team. You ideally will be capable of hitting the ground running, with a proven track record in a high-paced financial planning environment. We'd love you to be based from our office in Hitchin, but totally get that the remote/hybrid option, may open the door to more of you.

Your primary focus will be to support our four Financial Planners by transforming their client meeting summaries into comprehensive financial strategies. You will be responsible for the technical research, cash flow modelling and drafting of high-quality suitability letters and client reports, ensuring that all advice is compliant, accurate and tailored to the specific needs of the client. The Planners love to be challenged.

We are hoping that you will have

  • A minimum of three years of experience in a para-planning role within a financial advisory firm. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently from day one.
  • Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (DipPFS) or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • We want you to have exceptional written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts in plain English (our reports are very individual).
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot technical issues or opportunities within a client’s file.
  • Strong experience with cashflow modelling.
  • Your regulatory knowledge needs to be up-to-date, especially of current legislation, pension rules and FCA regulations.
  • We'd like you to be a tech warrior, with experience in relevant software packages (Plannr and FinCalc preferred) and using GenAI appropriately in your work.
