Experienced Senior Accountant

Cardiff
£50,000-£60,000
Hybrid Working
Permanent

There are plenty of Senior Accountant roles that offer more of the same. This one has been created because a successful independent firm is actively building its next generation of managers.

The business is profitable, growing and investing in its people, with succession planning already creating opportunities for ambitious staff to take on more responsibility. It also has unusually strong retention, with a number of people having built careers of ten years or more within the firm.

The Experienced Senior Accountant will join an established Cardiff team working with owner-managed businesses across a broad range of sectors.

Hybrid working is available, alongside regular face-to-face client exposure. The balance is designed to give people flexibility without losing the relationships and development that come from actually spending time with clients and senior colleagues.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What you'll be doing

  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts
  • Taking ownership of assignments from start to finish
  • Working directly with business owners and finance teams
  • Supporting corporation tax compliance
  • Preparing management accounts where required
  • Reviewing work completed by trainees and junior staff
  • Resolving accounting queries with clients
  • Attending client meetings alongside Managers and Directors
  • Gradually taking greater responsibility for your own portfolio

The Experienced Senior Accountant should already have solid experience within a UK accountancy environment and be comfortable preparing accounts with limited supervision.

ACA or ACCA qualification would be useful, although strong part-qualified and qualified-by-experience candidates will also be considered.

Why consider it?

The firm is not recruiting because of staff turnover. Continued growth and succession planning mean it needs more people capable of progressing through the business.

That creates genuine headroom.

The Experienced Senior Accountant can develop towards Client Manager and beyond, supported by experienced senior people who are actively looking to delegate responsibility rather than protect their territory until retirement.
