About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker looking to progress their career and broaden their professional experience and knowledge.
We are looking for a Social Worker who has experience of working with children and young people who are Children in Need, subject to Child Protection Plans and/or Looked After.
The Disabled Children's Team works with children, young people, and their families across the Calderdale district. We support children and young people under the age of 18 who have disabilities, complex health needs, and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
This is a rewarding opportunity to develop your social work career within a supportive and experienced Disabled Children's Team. You will work with disabled children and young people with a range of needs, helping them achieve positive outcomes while building your knowledge, experience, and confidence within this area of practice.
We are proud to be a specialist team consisting of Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and an Occupational Therapy Assistant. We work closely with colleagues in the Transition Team, the SEN Team, and other specialist children's services to ensure children, young people, and their families receive coordinated and effective support.
As part of this role, you will further develop your understanding of the duties and responsibilities of social care professionals working with children and young people with SEND and disabilities. We actively promote the team as a learning environment that maintains high-quality standards and responds to developments that impact the lives of disabled children and their families.

Requirements
You will hold a recognized Social Work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have access to a vehicle for work purposes. Experience within statutory children's services is essential, and some experience of court work would be desirable.
The post holder will be supported to deliver high-quality, child-centred social work to disabled children and young people across Calderdale. You will receive regular reflective supervision, access to ongoing professional development opportunities, and support from experienced colleagues. We are committed to maintaining manageable caseloads, enabling practitioners to undertake meaningful direct work and achieve positive outcomes for children and families.

Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
This role is based in the UK. Home Office guidance states that candidates must evidence their right to work in the UK prior to commencing employment, either as a UK or Irish citizen, under the EU Settlement scheme, or having secured any other relevant work visa.
If you do not have the right to work in the UK, you must consider your own eligibility for sponsorship for a particular role through the Skilled Worker visa route before applying. To be eligible for sponsorship, you'll usually need to be paid the standard salary rate of at least £41,700 per year (unless exceptions apply) and meet the other eligibility criteria. Ensure you are eligible before applying.
