We are a community environmental charity that has outgrown our financial systems.
We are looking for someone to help us create a project budgeting system potentially using a mixture of excel and other Microsoft Power apps. Can you help us create that?
What difference will you make?
Your input will help to reduce errors and stresses in the organisation and help to improve our financial controls, monitoring and resilience as we continue to grow.
This, in turn, will free up time for other tasks and allow us to monitor and use our resources more wisely.
We're a friendly bunch who are committed to our work and valuing the support of volunteers.
What are we looking for?
We envisage you will primarily have the skills to help build documents and flows in Microsoft apps such as Power Automate, Power BI, Lists and Excel.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What will you be doing?
We are seeking an expert to provide guidance, advice and to assist with the building of a project budgeting system or process that is user friendly for staff, editable and as automated as possible. We are looking for the project budgets to feed up to an organisational budget.
We are a team of 7 part-time staff. We are in the process of moving from Sage to Liberty accounting software. We use Microsoft Office 365. We have access to the range of microsoft apps which we have very limited understanding of. We currently have multiple project budgets in separate excel spreadsheets which, as we have grown, led to confusion, human error and laborious tasks.

We are looking for your support to build a more automated and integrated project budgeting system that feeds into our organisational budget and can ultimately be uploaded to Liberty (excel or CSV).
This is our current thinking but we are open to new ideas. We are a values led organisation and look forward to your valuable input.
Success looks like a usable project budgeting system that allows ease of use and inputting, ability to monitor data, include automation, smooth connection between project and organisational budgets.
We envisage this taking a few months and being able to be completed remotely.
