Expert(e) Stripe Freelance
This freelance role offers the opportunity to optimize payment infrastructure across a portfolio of international subscription-based SaaS products.
You will audit existing Stripe integrations, identify improvement opportunities, and establish consistent best practices across multiple products.
Your work will have a direct impact on payment conversion, authorization rates, renewal performance, risk management, and revenue.
The role combines deep technical expertise with hands-on problem-solving across recurring payments, billing, fraud, and payment authentication.
You will collaborate directly with payment, technology, and product teams in a highly autonomous, fully remote environment.
The mission is designed for an experienced Stripe specialist who can quickly assess complex setups and deliver measurable improvements.
You will also document your work and transfer knowledge to internal teams, creating lasting value beyond the engagement.
Accountabilities:
- Audit existing Stripe integrations, configurations, and payment flows across multiple SaaS products.
- Define and implement shared Stripe integration best practices across the product portfolio.
- Optimize payment journeys and 3DS2/SCA flows to improve customer experience and payment performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve authorization rates, subscription renewal rates, and overall payment conversion.
- Support payment risk, fraud prevention, and dispute-management initiatives.
- Analyze complex payment and billing configurations and recommend practical improvements.
- Collaborate closely with payment specialists and Technology and Product teams to implement changes effectively.
- Document key processes, configurations, recommendations, and best practices for future reference.
- Transfer knowledge and expertise to internal teams to strengthen long-term payment capabilities.
- Prioritize work independently and deliver measurable outcomes within a short, focused engagement.

Requirements:
- Confirmed to senior-level experience with at least 5 years of professional experience in payments or related technical domains.
- Multiple production-grade Stripe integrations, with substantial experience supporting recurring and subscription-based business models.
- Experience with SaaS, B2C subscription products, subscription apps, or marketplaces; a background limited to one-time e-commerce payments is not sufficient for the role.
- Advanced knowledge of Stripe APIs, Billing, Checkout, Elements, and Radar.
- Strong hands-on experience with webhooks, 3DS2/SCA, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
- Demonstrated understanding of payment authorization and subscription renewal optimization.
- Experience with a billing orchestrator is a strong advantage.
- Experience integrating multiple payment service providers (PSPs) is highly valued.
- Strong autonomy and ownership, with the ability to audit, prioritize, solve problems, and deliver without close supervision.
- Excellent communication and teaching skills, with the ability to explain complex payment concepts clearly to Product and Technology teams.
- Strong analytical skills, rigor, and a results-oriented approach focused on measurable outcomes.
- Fluent French, as the primary working language.
- Professional fluency in English, used as a secondary working language and assessed during the recruitment process.
